Thoughts for Nick and Tami

Team Haupt’s network of support wouldn’t be what it is without all of the people we’ve met online and off who have helped to keep our spirits up, sending encouragement and laughter Jonathan’s way the past 7 months. Connecting with fellow patients online has been a special source of strength for Jonathan.  So, all of us here are thinking about two of Jonathan’s fellow patients this week.

With extreme sadness, we’re remembering Nick Glasgow, who lost his courageous fight with acute leukemia earlier this week.  We are sending our love to his family and friends, who we hope know what an inspiration Nick and they have been in showing us how to keep fighting even when they odds seem against us and how to get the word out far and wide about bone marrow donation in order to find a match for not only ourselves but for all of the other patients out there waiting and hoping.

We also have Tami in our thoughts, who was finally discharged after Day 100+ post-transplant. Keep strong and know that support continues to come your way from all over.

Thank you so much for mentioning Tami. She left Seattle today and should be back home with her family tonight sleeping in her own bed for the firs time since the beginning of June!

The loss of Nick is heartbreaking for him, his family, friends and loved ones. Sometimes it seems like there’s nothing but bad news…

But tonight there is good news to share. I just learned that Matthew Nguyen received his stem cell transplant for AML on Sept. 19th but had laid low until recently posting in his blog. His donor was located through the U.S. registry. Praying his transplant is successful and GVHD is kept to a minimum.

Hang in there Jonathan. You have been in my thoughts and prayers ever since Lynn contacted me. Here’s hoping both you and Anh are next to find perfect 10/10 matches.
