Rainy Day Reads

Hello from rainy Baltimore. I’m still stuck at Hopkins and dealing with big-time nausea. But my high fevers seem to have subsided, as least for the time being.
Docs sayI may be in for another week. Then I’ll have a week of freedom before starting pre-transplant diagnostic tests for the half-match done marrow transplant I’ll be getting from my sister at the end of November.
If you’re looking for something to read this weekend, check out The Recession Nation Project by my good friend Andres. The dedication means a lot.
And here’s another good read for one aspect of health reform we can all agree on: improving coverage for life-saving cancer treatments. Check out Washington Post reporter — and AML survivor — Ibby Caputo’s piece How a Public Option Saved My Life: Universal-Coverage Law Was One of the Miracles That Kept Me Going.

CONGRATULATIONS Your new birthday is just around the corner. (transplant) Having that experience with my son that is what I call it. You and your sister will have a bond that is out of this world. I will keep both of you in my prayers and hope for a successful outcome.
